Code of Conduct¶
Be respectful, constructive, and professional. We're all here to improve Power BI knowledge sharing.
Our Pledge¶
We as members, contributors, and maintainers pledge to make participation in our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
Accepted Behavior¶
We encourage behaviors that create a positive environment:
- Using welcoming and inclusive language
- Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
- Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
- Focusing on what's best for the community
- Showing empathy towards other community members
- Assuming good intent in contributions and discussions
Examples¶
Good interactions:
"Thanks for this suggestion! To evaluate it properly, could you provide the author's credentials and when it was last updated?"
"I appreciate the effort here. After review, this doesn't quite fit our criteria because [specific reason]. However, if you can provide [specific information], we'd be happy to reconsider."
"Great catch on that broken link! I'll create a PR to fix it."
Unacceptable Behavior¶
The following behaviors are not tolerated:
- Personal attacks or harassment of any kind
- Trolling or inflammatory comments
- Spam or excessive self-promotion
- Publishing others' private information without permission
- Sexual language or imagery
- Other unprofessional conduct that creates a hostile environment
Examples¶
Unacceptable interactions:
"This is stupid. Why would anyone use this?"
"You clearly don't know what you're talking about."
"Just approve it already, stop being difficult."
Our Responsibilities¶
Maintainers are responsible for:
- Clarifying standards of acceptable behavior
- Taking appropriate action in response to unacceptable behavior
- Removing, editing, or rejecting contributions that don't align with this Code of Conduct
- Banning temporarily or permanently any contributor for behaviors deemed inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful
Scope¶
This Code of Conduct applies:
- Within all project spaces (GitHub issues, PRs, discussions)
- When representing the project publicly
- In all interactions related to Power BI Nexus
Enforcement¶
Enforcement Actions¶
Violations may result in:
- Warning - First-time minor violations
- Temporary ban - Repeated or moderate violations (30 days)
- Permanent ban - Severe or repeated violations after warning
Enforcement Guidelines¶
We follow these guidelines in determining consequences:
1. Correction¶
Community Impact: Use of inappropriate language or other unprofessional behavior.
Consequence: Private written warning with clarity around the violation and explanation of why the behavior was inappropriate. A public apology may be requested.
2. Warning¶
Community Impact: A violation through a single incident or series of actions.
Consequence: Warning with consequences for continued behavior. No interaction with the people involved for a specified period. This includes avoiding interactions in community spaces as well as external channels. Violating these terms may lead to a temporary or permanent ban.
3. Temporary Ban¶
Community Impact: Serious violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior.
Consequence: Temporary ban from any sort of interaction or public communication with the community for a specified period. No public or private interaction with the people involved is allowed during this period. Violating these terms may lead to a permanent ban.
4. Permanent Ban¶
Community Impact: Demonstrating a pattern of violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior, > harassment, or aggression toward individuals or classes of individuals.
Consequence: Permanent ban from any sort of public interaction within the community.
